Authentic. Driven. Passionate. Competitive. Ask anyone who has played for Coach Clewell and they will
tell you that there aren’t many things (besides his family and his faith) that he cares more about than his
players. He expects a lot from his players and coaches, and his goal for Premier Baseball of GA is to
provide a productive, competitive environment that sets an example for both on field conduct as well as
off-field character and integrity. After a successful collegiate career and ~20 successful years trotting
the globe as a Corporate Exec, Coach Clewell has returned to his passionate roots to teach, coach, and
mentor in the game of baseball and to provide leadership to PBG. For those who know him well, they
describe Coach Clewell as an adventurous, dedicated family man serving the local community through
youth sports and other volunteer efforts, and that he strongly values learning and education. Holding an
MBA in International Geopolitics, a JD in International Law, a BS in Economics, a Six Sigma Certification,
and an active GA Real Estate License, Coach Clewell’s educational accomplishments are not always
indicative of his desire for a simple, authentic, relaxed lifestyle (we know this comes as a surprise to
many :) ). He is an active participant with Compassion International, supporting 2 children in rural India
and 1 child in Guatemala.
He is equally as comfortable in the boardroom as he is on the baseball field (he prefers the baseball
field). He loves to share stories about his travels (humor him if he catches your ear), play the guitar,
hike/camp, invest, mountain bike with his family, and he is an ardent reader. Coach Clewell prefers
Barnes & Noble over GameStop, micro brews over domestic, old ball caps over flat bills, dark over
medium roast coffee, non-fiction over fiction, and sole proprietors over chain restaurants. When he
isn’t on the training field or coaching, Coach Clewell can easily be found at a youth sporting event or at a
local restaurant (not quite the Where’s Waldo status) with friends and his lovely wife Kim of 20 years
and their three children, Courtney, Nathanael, and Ethan. He can also be occasionally seen with the
family sidekick, Remi, the family’s golden retriever.
Favorite Superhero and why? Ironman. Homemade body armor that gives him superhuman strength
and durability, agile flight, and an array of weapons… why not?
What famous person, past or present, would he most like to play catch with and why? Jesus, because
he probably has a nasty slider.
Favorite player all-time? Ted Williams. Favorite player modern-era? George Brett.
Indiana Jones or Luke Skywalker? Indiana Jones, because Luke Skywalker is a fictional character,
Indiana Jones is real. (OK Coach, if you say so!)
Favorite baseball movie and why? Field of Dreams. “Hey dad… you wanna have a catch?” Enough
